We, at Holling Heights, feel very fortunate to have Title I services that provide additional literacy support to students and teachers in grades K-2. Title I is a federally funded program that is tied to the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
The emphasis of the Title I program is to provide early intervention in the areas of reading and writing. To determine who is eligible for Title I services, we assess children in K-2 on their literacy skills. Once the assessments are completed, we notify the parents of students who are eligible for services.
Our Primary Title I teachers are Stephanie Kastrup and Deb Hormann. Stephanie has been teaching for nineteen years and has classroom experience with grades K-2. This school year will be her seventh year as a Title I teacher at Holling Heights. She also works as an Instructional Facilitator in the building. Deb Hormann has been a teacher for fourteen years and has taught grades K-4. Seven of her fourteen years of experience are in the kindergarten classroom.
If you have any questions about the assessments or the program, please feel free to contact us or your child’s teacher at 715-8330.
